Excellent post! I love creative reuse too and I think its a great way to avoid waste and to think differently about it too. We've picked up some excellent items of furniture from the streets

Sadly, we in Fargo only get a spring spring-cleaning day, but we acquire what we can; it unfortunately tends to be the rainiest week of the spring, which tend to damage the best stuff. Our basement is so full of stuff that we haven't gotten to messing with yet, that we have to restrain ourselves. Sad days, indeed, when a century-old solid-wood door gets left on the curb and we can't take it home (last spring, the reason was, "we just picked one up -- where will we put #2?!?") Recycling this old stuff is the best -- there's so much that people just throw out, it's such a waste.
