Is my Etsy ID different from my Etsy Username? How do I find my Etsy ID?

Your ID is different from your username. Your username is the name you chose and the one you log in with. Your ID is an Etsy-assigned number that you can easily find by simply going to your store. If you use a bookmark or if you type your “friendly” store address (www.username.etsy.com) you will always get redirected to an address that looks like this: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5034807 That one is mine. Pretty ugly and not very catchy on a business card, right? That’s why Etsy gives you the friendly address and it just redirects automatically to this one, I guess. Your Etsy ID is the set of numbers at the very end of the address after “id=” … so mine is 5034807.

What is a “B&M” shop?

B&M stands for “Brick and Mortar” and refers to a store with an actual physical address in the real world, not just a virtual shop through Etsy, or a webpage. Pretty simple answer, but unless someone tells you, you’ll never know!

1. Why do people not put the “@” in their email address when listing it on a website? For example: sixthandelm(AT)gmail.com or sixthandelm(AT)gmail(DOT)com.

“Bots,” or computer-automated searchers can scan webpages for things that look like email addresses (usually looking for the “@” that gives an email away) to add to spam lists so to be safe many webpage authors will code their emails so that people can understand it, but computers looking for addresses to spam cannot. Another solution is to make their email address into a picture in photoshop so that bots scanning text only cannot read it. I have no idea which pages are safe or when it is okay to use an email address in the correct form so I just use the (AT) format for everything, including listing my email on profiles for facebook, flickr or etsy.
