Project Wonderful

(My Project Wonderful Ad)

Yes, “Project Wonderful” sounds like the spawn of a Disney mascot and the Make-A-Wish-Foundation, but it is in actuality a two-way ad network where you can either post or host ads on blogs all over the blogosphere. Yeah, I just used that word. Blogosphere. Whatcha gonna do about it?

Signing up to host an ad box means submitting your site and then populating your ad box with ads you approve, so you can pick only other artists if you want, or designers, or Etsy stores, for example. To avoid the embarrasing “YOUR AD HERE” that proclaims to the world that no one thinks you important enough to advertise on yet, you can start the bidding at $0.00, which should fit in anyone’s budget (if it doesn’t you’re doing the budget wrong) and fill up the spots until someone starts to bid for the spots in higher increments. And you can either withdraw the money you generate, or use the profits to bid on ad spots for you on sites in turn.

I just started my ad boxes, so they are still going for anywhere from $0.01 to $0.50 per day an ad. That’s not bad at all – 1 cent a day means 30 cents for a whole month of advertising. If you want to get in on the action before the bidding gets high (because, let’s face it, it will because I am awesome) then click on the link below either of the two 5×1 ad boxes in the sidebar and check out Project Wonderful for yourself.

Chuki isn’t the only one growing older last month. I hit the first big milestone: “The Big 3-0.” A lot of people worry about turning 30, but I don’t really have a problem with it, although the frequency with which people are wiling to use the phrase “The Big 3-0″ does alarm me a bit.

My dearly beloved took advantage of my obliviousness and scored Sheryl Crow tickets (3rd row!!!!!!!) to her concert in Toronto that I didn’t even know about. How’s that for head in the clouds, eh? The ONE person left that I have not seen in concert that I desperately wanted to, and I didn’t even know she was in town. And even better, KT Tunstall opened the show, someone else I have been hoping to see.

Chuki chipped in his 25 cent allowance (oh, come on, he’s a cat, of course we are kidding)  and bought me a bookmark, since he ate all my old ones. And Ollie even sent along his wishes, which Emily helped capture in a card that they gave me with a gift certificate to Michael’s.  I asked her how she got hi to sit still for an inking and she just said “treats,” which is, of course, enough motivation to get Ollie to do pretty much anything. I think the little marks from the fur between his toes is the cutest part.

Welcome to the November 5, 2007 edition of etsybloggers. Sorry for the delay, I was having a frozen banana emergency. I’m serious.

To start us off…

Stormy Designs was pulled into the crafting world by an Aussie friend, and she tells us about it in her post The Story of her Craft On her blog, Stormy Designs.

Alicia Mae tells her story about inheriting her artistry from her talented mother and grandmother and keeping it in the genes in her post “Why I Craft” on Insights to Alicia Mae.

Buffy gives us a fantastically detailed account of her rise to crafting fame (well, she doesn’t say that, but she should be famous…) in her post, etsy bloggers theme: the story of my craft posted at purlyshells. Welcome to the team, Buffy!

Kathy (“Cozy” to us) tells the wonderful story of her organic discovery of her talent with needlework and other types of creative release in her post “Why, oh why?” on her blog, A Cozy Life.

And, of course, I’ll put in my two cents and tell the story of growing up with a goldmine of craftable treasures and how that ignited the spark of creativity right here on Sixth & Elm in ” The Story of My Craft.”

Thank you all for participating and taking the time to learn a bit about the inspiring artists on our team. Hope to see you back soon…
